Urban sketching

Drawing of a San Francisco polling place by Samantha Zaza

This is a really rad new blog. Urban Sketchers includes artists from around the world who draw the people and places where they live and travel to. The blog's an offshoot of a Flickr group started by Seattle journalist and illustrator Gabi Campanario, who has his own blog, Seattle Sketcher. You can see a list of all the correspondents here, and join the Flickr group Urban Sketchers here.

It's nice to see our new blog being highlighted here.

The 'radical' bit I guess is about us all coming together as correspondents on one blog. However, drawing the places where we live and the places we visit is not a new phenomenon. If you take a look at any of the correspondents' blogs you'll see we've all been doing that for quite some time.

If you enjoy the new Urban Sketchers blog, I can highly recommend that you also take a peek at the blogs of some more of the correspondents - they're all really good! :)

You can access these via the list of correspondents where each of us has an entry comprising a photo, a sketch and a short bit of text saying why we do what we do and links to our blogs. Anybody interested in sketching should definitely read this.

BTW Gabi is actually a very nice man (and I was similarly confused until I saw his photo!) ;)

Thanks for the heads up, Katherine! :)
